Mustache of the Day: DAY 27

Captain Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III

Pilot and safety expert, Captain Sully became an overnight hero as he successfully landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River last month.  He saved the lives of 155 people on the plane and from what the reports said not even a hair of his mustache was out of place.  A classic American-hero style mustache, Sully is definitely one to look to for inspiration.

The Mustache Bash on the News!

Everyone tune into Fox New tomorrow morning (Friday) between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, and tune into WSBT on Saturday morning at 8:00am to see the Mustache Bash Public Relations Manager in action.

That's right, our very own John Vance will be on the local morning show circuit promoting the Mustache Bash.  Be sure to tune in or tivo it, it will be a doozey!

Here is John Vance during the Mustache Bash "off-season" doing his best Robert Goulet!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 26

The Swimmer Stache

Here is a couple gold medal swimming icons sporting some lip fur.  When you are as fast as these guys in the water, it does not matter if you have some extra whiskers to slow you down.

Mustache of the Day: BONUS!

John Moschitta Jr., The Micro Machine Man

Since this year is not a leap year, I am throwing in a BONUS Mustache of the Day, John Moschitta Jr. or as you may know him,
The Micro Machine Man.

Remember this fast talking, stache-toting
spokesperson?

I still associate really small things with fast talking.

Here are a few clips to refresh your memory:

T-Shirts!

We have some shirts left for sale, but they are going fast! We are asking a $15 donation for the shirts and have sizes S-XXL. If you know you want one, send me a message and I will set one aside for you so you don't miss out...

Mustache of the Day: DAY 24

Charles Bronson

Are you sensing a trend yet?  Another badass, another awesome mustache!  Charles Bronson had the same take nothing from no one attitude that many of our mustaches of the day have had.  This one is no exception.  Hopefully by now, day 24, your take nothing from no one attitude is starting to match the badass-ness of your stache!

The Dirty Rooks!

We figured we would take a quick minute to introduce you all to The Dirty Rooks, the live entertainment for Saturday night and the official band of the Mustache Bash.  Save the turntables for another night, and keep the Britney Spears remixes for the next time you are alone in your car...we need a sound more soulful, more gritty, more suitable for the mustache-wearing party-goers of the Mustache Bash!  There is no sound more fitting than that found by Chicago's, The Dirty Rooks.  They classify themselves as "booze rock" and that is what makes them top notch in my book.  They play rock and roll influenced heavily by the blues.  Picture the Rolling Stones meet The White Stripes with Muddy Waters soul and a Ted Nugent 'stache.

Here is what others are saying:

"[The Dirty Rooks] move the genre forward and deliver exciting music that spans decades and styles"Mike O'Cull, TAXI

"most satisfying is the sound of the blues in young hands that, rather than treating the music as a museum piece, twist it to fit the moment." (Illinois Entertainer)

"The Dirty Rooks burrow themselves underneath your nails, along with the dirt and scum and filth of the city streets. And they're good...rock n' roll hasn't been this drunk in a while." Tom Lynch, Newcity

"pure, classic rock with some blues influence...”Dan Ocwhat, The Real Chicago

The Rooks poolside at Stretch's

The Dirty Rooks are making their second appearance in South Bend after a successful 2008 ND Football Kickoff Party poolside at Stretch's.  Make sure to go check out their website at www.thedirtyrooks.com.  There are a ton of videos, songs, photos, you name it.

Here is one of our personal faves:

They will be sure to make your evening a memorable one, lip sweaters and all!

Dirty Rooks Fun Fact #21:  The Dirty Rooks original band name was MOUSTACHE  (not kidding!)

Mustache of the Day: DAY 23

Beastie Boys: SABOTAGE!

The Beastie Boys kicked it 70's style with their video for Sabotage from the album Ill Communication.  Donning shoulder holsters and nice fake staches, they cleaned up the streets.  As we are getting close to the end, if your stache is hurtin' maybe you need to look into one of these Sabotage Staches.

So slap that teardrop light on the roof, put on your aviators and get ready to watch!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 22

Waldorf,
of Waldorf and Statler from the Muppets

This duo was the classic peanut gallery.  Perched up in the balcony they always had a joke to get in.  On yeah, and Waldorf had one of the greatest mustaches in ventriloquism history.

Here is a hi-light reel of the two in action:

Mustache of the Day: DAY 21

Sam the Snowman / Burl Ives

As the winter freeze is starting to fade, let us remember one of the great Christmas mustaches.  Sam the Snowman, voiced by Burl Ives, had one of those ice cold staches that just looked cool, literally.

Mustache of the Day: DAY 20

Old School Wresting Tribute

It was the mid to late 80's and The World Wrestling Federation was in its prime.  Saturday night was fight night with the good guys against the bad guys.  The quest for the Championship belt, Wrestle Mania, cages matches, and the Inter-Continental Champion were the what we looked forward to.  This is a tribute to some of those great men who entertained us my throwing chairs at one another, chewing the turn-buckle, and jumping off the top ropes.  Of course our tribute is to those that did it all while proudly displaying a lip sweater!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 19

The Biker from the Village People

The bikers real name was Glenn Hughes, and was referred to by the masses as "Leatherman".  Helping to keep disco alive, he was also named on People Magazine's 1979 list of most beautiful people.  I know one thing that I am not ashamed to say is beautiful....that mustache!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 18

Jason Giambi Tribute!

Although personally I am not a huge Yankees fan, no one can discount what Jason Giambi did for the modern day mustache last baseball season.  He literally grew attention to the power of the mustache with one little lip sweater.  Fans of all ages, teammates, and even ESPN personalities (see video below) were literally drawn to Giami's stache.  Take the time to watch the video below from ESPN and their interview with Aaron Perlut from the American Mustache Institute.  Aaron was so kind last year as to give us the official American Mustache Institute endorsement.  It has solidified our event among the great grow off's across the country as the real deal.  Take some time to check out their site HERE, and you can read our official endorsement HERE.

Mustache of the Day: DAY 17

Wooly Willy

The Wooly Willy is most versatile when it comes to mustaches. The Walrus, The Chevron, The Fu-Man-Chu, The Handlebar, The Dali, The Pencil Thin...no problem for Wooly Willy.  Grab the magic magnetic pen and make it happen.

Spring Training Has Started

For all of my fellow Cubs fans out there. Here are some famous Chicago Cubs mustaches.
http://www.justonebadcentury.com/mustaches/mustaches_archives.asp

If the whole team would grow a mustache they may do it this year.

Mustache of the Day: DAY 15

Paul Blart, Mall Cop / Kevin James

Still haven't seen this one yet, so I can't comment on the level of cinematography here, but regardless Kevin James pull off one sweet chevron style mustache.  Shoplifters beware!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 14

Cupid (again)

As with last year, it is only fitting that Cupid be our Mustache of the Day for Valentine's Day.  Just remind your sweetie that if she likes it now, she is really going to like it in another 14 days when it doubles in size!

We are halfway there!

Mustache of the Day: DAY 13

Salvador Dali

For our Friday the 13th Mustache of the Day this is one of the scariest moustaches out there.  The imaginative Salvador Dali had the mustache to go along with his surrealist artist lifestyle.  Flamboyant, eccentric, and just plain creepy this stache has become an icon in the long history of the mustache.

Mustache of the Day: DAY 12

Prince
Or the artist formerly know as? or just the symbol?

For those of you really into man-scaping Prince can provide some inspiration for you.  The attention to detail is impeccable and the flair over the top.  Be careful though, this style of 'stache is not for everyone!  Make sure that you have the confidence and musical talent (or at least a purple guitar) to complete this look.

Elkhart Fire Shave In

Sorry for the delay in getting these up, but here are some good shots from the Elkhart Fire Shave In.  Grow on!
