It is that time of year again!!! We are back again for the Fourth Annual Mustache Bash!

This year we are having an Old West theme and the tagline "A Good Ole Fashioned Mustache Growing Contest". So work on that Sam Elliot handlebar 'stach, a Doc Holiday pencil-thin, or just a good old classic Burt Reynolds chevron!

We are a group made up largely of area firefighters from Clay Fire, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Notre Dame, Penn Township, South Bend, and other parts of Northern Indiana. In an effort to raise some money and create awareness for a worthy cause last year we had our third annual month long mustache growing contest. We had a total of 132 growers and together we raised a total $6,609.36 to donate to our causes the Hoosier Burn Camp and the Firefighter Cancer Support Network.

We need your help for this year to be bigger and fuzzier than ever!

We are attempting to get as many growers as we can and raise as much money possible for our charities these same charities this year.

The growing begins on February 1st and we will finish the month of growing with the Mustache Bash where you come to flaunt your lip sweater. Again this year, we are going to be hosting the Mustache Bash at Corby's Irish Pub in South Bend .

THE DETAILS:

There is a $20 entrance fee...

For that $20:

We will be making a generous DONATION of 100% of the profits to The Hoosier Burn Camp and the Firefighter Cancer Support Network.

You will get a wrist band that will get you free beer at Corby's for a good portion of the night and a 2011 Mustache Bash Pint glass to put said beer in.

If your mustache is good (or bad) enough to impress the judges you just might get some very special prizes! (don't worry there are several categories)

Additionally we will be having a small cover charge at the door for the non-growers, and some great raffle prizes all night to raise some additional cash for the charities.

THE RULES:

Mustaches only!!! No mid-life crisis goatees, soul patches, or George Michaels Beards!!!

We will have a "Shave In" January 31st. Place is still to be determined. Come cleanly shaven and celebrate your smooth face with your fellow growers. You can bring your money then, the night of the Bash, or get it to me somehow at Clay Fire Station 1.

THE FINE PRINT:

If you commit....then back out, you must double the entrance fee to buy your way out. A whopping $40 for charity, as well as the personal shame and public ridicule that you will incur.

What if you already have a mustache??? Shave it and start over! Chances are that it will come thicker, and look twice as sweet.

If you are in, well then send us an email to info@themustachebash.com and tell us so. We also need a before photo of you cleanly shaven if you can’t make it to the Shave In on the 31st.

On a side note, you might be asking yourself...."I am a girl!! I can't grow a mustache! Or at least not a good one, so what am I supposed to do at a Mustache Growing Contest?" Well, please don't take it as a personal insult. We know that you made it to our site because we know that you like to party, and we are going to need your support for this 26 day long mustache ride! You should feel honored and we expect to see you at The Mustache Bash. Additionally we also accept donations for our charities, so you can still pay the $20 for the wristband to drink which also gets you the pint glass.

GREAT SUCCESS!!!

We wanted to take a chance to thank everyone for your support this year with the Mustache Bash! Whether you grew, helped with the event, donated, or had to deal with a husband with (or without) his mustache for some time, it all paid off.

We raised over $6,500 to share between our two charities, and ended with with a total of 131 growers!!! This is all pretty amazing considering this first started as "just an excuse to have another party".

We were featured on the news and in the papers again, and the press was much appreciated. The link to one of the stories can be found HERE.

We first met Jackie Chiles in the TV show Seinfeld. He was Kramer's lawyer who was always up to something that he could sue for and he also had a sweet mustache. His famous catch phrases were "I am outraged", as well as saying four adjectives in a row ending with "outrageous", such as " lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous!" Snidley Wiplash

We all remember this mustahce as kids, but nobody like him because he was the evil villan from Dudley Do Right. Snidley was always kidnapping the damsil in distress and tieing her to the railroad tracks when the hero would always show up and foil his plan. We must thank the cartoonist for this awesome pencil thin handlebar mustache. Just wait I have heard that Snildy himself may show up at the Bash on the 27th, so keep your eyes open for evil villans...

Canadian Alpine Skiing Team

Since our month long mustache growing compeition is centered around the 2010 Winter olympics it is only right to showcase the great mustaches of these games. The Canadian Alpine Skiing team is sporting some sweet mustaches on their downhill adventures these games. One would think that you would not want any upper lip hair because of the wind drag, but these four Canadians thought otherwise. Even though they are from Canada we forgive them for their sweet staches.

Landolio Archimedes Calrissian Jr. is a legendary Armenian-American intergalactic pilot and Colt 45(gun and drink) enthusiast. With his double crossing mustache he gave up Han Solo to Jaba The Hut to pay off his debt. But after some soul searching in Retun of the Jedi he came back to help break Han out of his Carbon Freeze. The Beatles

From 1962-1966 at least one of the Beatles had a mustache. Some may say that their best recordings came out during this time because of the upper lip hair. Many younger men during the Brittish pop invasion grew mustahces becasue of these influential mustached musicians. For that we thank you Paul, John, George, and Ringo.

We here at the Mustachebash.com are offically endorse the Chicago Cubs. So if you are not a Cubs fan, too bad.
